Musings of an Olde Christian Biker

Hey Bikers…

So you think you would like to ride a motorcycle and be a biker. But you are a millennial and you don’t know anything about bikes.

Being a biker has less to do about the motorcycle and more to do with the experience!!! Being a biker is about what’s in your heart and soul. It’s about the hunger you feel on Saturday morning when your getting ready to go on a ride with your motorcycle friends. It’s about getting on the road and feeling the freedom of being a biker…

But wait. You’re probably asking yourself how do I get there. I don’t know anything about being a biker??? Well Olde Biker has some crazy ideas…how about I make myself available to share my 55 years of experience. And how about we don’t try to make you a copy of what’s been done, but you become MILLENNIAL BIKERS…

You are unique and while there are certain things you will want to do as Bikers, because you will not be brand specific, you will be free to create your own identity as MILLENNIAL BIKERS…Honda, Harley, Yamaha, Suzuki, Kawasaki…they all make bikes that are affordable and fun to ride…

So let me know what you think…are you ready for the experience of being a biker?? Or maybe the question is, is the biker world ready for the MILLENNIAL BIKERS…

Hey Bikers…

Finally you have an alternative…if you ride a softail, a dyna or a sportster with a fender mounted license plate and you want to use the smaller bullet LED turn signals, now you can…Great Bike Gear has developed a laid down license plate frame using the smaller single post LED bullet turn signals…it comes in gloss black or chrome and is really clean looking…I am really impressed!!!

Here is the really cool thing for those of you who have already changed over to the single post bullet turn signals…GBG offers the laid down turn signal/license plate frame that will let you use the single post turn signals you already have…how cool is that???  They have a clear lens but light up amber…They can not be used as tail lights, they are single function…some models will require a load equalizer also available at GBG…

A laid down license plate frame that lets you relocate your turn signals off the fender rail and convert to the really sleek looking single post LED bullet turn signals…Awesome!!!!

Does Prayer Work??

Hello Biker World

I received the following prayer request from my brother in the Lord Grizz (SFJMC) this morning. My heart goes out to Gary and his wife Cindy. Being a cancer survivor myself, I can appreciate the fear and anxiety this couple is experiencing.

I was diagnosed with stage 3 prostate cancer in July of 2007. The doctor advised me I had a very aggressive cancer, but we would do all that was possible to combat the cancer. I have been cancer free for two years now and I can honestly say that without the Lord and the prayers of my friends, family and, yes, I am sure complete strangers, I would not have had the strength to  continue after the diagnosis.

God does and will answer prayer so please keep Gary and Cindy in your prayers.

My name is Gary Hogman. Some of you receiving this know me, some do not. My
wife, Cindy, is 32 years old and has just been diagnosed with stage 4
cervical cancer and her chances for survival are very slim. She was pregnant
with our second child and had miscarried recently at 3 months, and now we
know why. This is a request for you to forward this e-mail to everyone you
know asking for prayer. The more people that pray for her to be healed, the
better. Pray and forward. It only takes a second to hit ‘forward’. Please do
it and don’t delete this, your prayer can, and perhaps will, save her life.
Please pray and ask everyone you know to pray for the HEALING of Cindy and
the removal of all cancer in her body, so she may enjoy all that life has to
offer, and to continue to be the wonderful mother to our 5-year-old son
Michael. The power of Prayer is unsurpassed. I want the whole world to have
her in their prayers the next few weeks. God will hear our cry. Please do
not be offended by my plea. This is only a request for your help.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading this and helping with our
request for healing! No words can express the power we have when we each do
a little to come together.

Regards, Cindy’s husband – Gary

Thank you, and please send it to the far reaches of our world

Mofo/SFJ Toy Run

Hello Biker World

Wow!! I may not be able to make our annual toy run. We are snowed in and expecting more snow, up to two feet, thursday and friday. Saturday is the Mofomen MC / Soldiers for Jesus MC toyrun. We collect toys at Olde Town in Manteca and then deliver them to the Redwood Family Center in Modesto. It is great to see the children at this home for abused woman unwrap and enjoy the toys. This is just one of numerous toy runs sponsored by motorcycle clubs throughout the nation. Bikers love to give to the benefit of the less prosperous. I am proud to be part of tne biker world. Especially at this time of year.

Great Christain Brother

Hello Biker World

I woke up this morning depressed as I often am at this time of year. My wife reminded me it is typical of me to be depressed around the holidays. She is convinced it is because I had a rather dysfunctional family and Christmas was never a happy time in my house. I am truly blessed to be married to such a wonderful Christain woman who loves the holdiday season. She loves to remind me how blessed we are. Two beautiful sons, two beautiful grandchildren, health, a wonderful church family at Heritage Christain Church and a blessed family, Soldiers for Jesus, MC.

I have been following Robdale on my twitter account. Today he posted a link to his blog http://www.robdale.ca/. On his blog he had posted  a post entitled “What Would You Write”.  For you Christains out their who know that nothing is an accident with God, God knew I need to read this post which included a letter from his pastor who was facing a major surgery to remove a brain tumor. I was truly inspired by Matt Chandler’s blog. Take a moment to check it out.

Today we will be attending our annual Soldiers for Jesus Christmas party. I am blessed beyond words to part of a Christian motorcycle ministry like SFJ. The brotherhood (and sisterhood) of SFJ is something I have tried to explain, but truly can only be experienced. We are blessed to be a part of a ministry with such dedicated Christians. Oh did I mention I have to ride my Harley?? To all you Soldiers and Soldier Girls, we love you very much!!

If you have taken the time to read what Matt Chandler wrote, I am sure you will keep him in your prayers. He should be an inspiration to all Christians as we face trials in our life. What would you write that you are thankful for??

Be blessed and know God is faithful,

Olde Biker

Boring Day!!

Hello Biker World

Well it is really a boring day. We live at the 4000 ft level in the Sierras on a ridgeline. The sky is beautiful but it is windy and cold. The wind is blowing about 50-60 mph and it is really cold, really.  Not good riding weather.  It is even too cold to work on my bike. I have been having a difficult time replacing the rear fender on my Road Glide. It all started when one of our (SFJ) prospects rear ended me in Kingman, AZ. Not good, but it seemed minor. NOT!!!!

I ordered a replacement fender from Harley. I removed the bent fender and went to work installing the new fender. Oops!!  Different shaped mounting holes. The old fender had round holes for the mounting bolts. The new fender has slotted holes. How to locate the mounting points in the fender??

Well I contacted Larry at Yosemite HD and he is trying to get an answer from Harley. Nothing is ever as easy as you think. But we will get her done, just not today.

Fortunately I have the Fatboy for the Hells Angels Nomad winter bash in Oakdale tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing all the brothers. And the weather is supposed to be better. Guess I will see if there are any good programs on the tube.

Be Safe All
